Angelos losses His Head
One of the rare occasions Angelos is seen at the field and he's lost his head! Well his flybar anyway, his raptor is now sporting an Outrage flybarless head and some clever electronics to make it fly.

We all held our breath as it spooled up wondering if it was going to fly but sure enough it took off and flew some gentle circuits, time will tell if this will catch on as he is the first member to go flybarless.

I believe some further adjustments are required to smooth out and speed up the response.

Another Quality Align Part!!!!!!!!!
Up the field tonight and for the second time David's tail pitch slider has given out, this really is a poorly designed part with the metal slider cutting a thread into the plastic fork.

They seem to strip out too easily for my liking and the consequences of a failure are a high speed pirouette, luckily the helicopter was on the ground this time but it could have been a lot worse.

My advice to all Trex 600 nitro and electric owners would be to invest £10 in the metal one and put Loctite on it to keep it in place, the part number of the metal one is:

H60077T-1 Metal Tail Pitch Assembly

What A Lovely Pair :-)
Neil F and Milan's Trex 500's looking sultry side by side, it's amazing the difference a new canopy makes to a helicopter, when Neil brought his home on Saturday with the new canopy he was challenged by the Missus "have you bought another new helicopter?" :-)

They really do look sweet.

The Smiles Say it all!

Trevor and Martin show of their shiny Canomod canopies off, Martin was able to break his magpie addiction to all things blue choosing the orange and yellow 3d style canopy.

Its amazing the difference a painted canopy make to a helicopter, completely transforming the look, these 2 Raptors now really look the business.

Take it easy guys, lets keep them looking pristine and new.

Neil B Buys Shares In Optifuel

Neil B was showing off his new N9 Synergy, a seriously sorted machine looking exquisite and flying just as well.

It is rumoured Neil only wanted a 90 because the blade bark would be louder :-) but whatever the reason this machine has big presence both static on the ground and when thrown around in the air.

someone once said to me "once you've flown a 90 you'll never go back!" we'll have to wait and see if his 50's are going to start gathering dust.

Milan Joins the Nitro Boys

Milan has recently seen the light and added a Raptor 50 to his fleet which has been made up on electric helicopters.

The Raptor 50 has given him a glimpse in to the wonderful world of nitro helicopters, he has had to learn quickly having had to change OS 50 Hyper engine bearings already (you'll get used to that Milan :-) )

Also having a revlock 20 he can often be seen with his laptop at the field fiddling with governor parameters which makes him look like a formula one pit crew downloading telemetry.

David's hopefully Cracked it

Those of you who have been following the ups and downs of David's Trex 500 problems will be pleased to know it looks like it's been sorted, after buying shares in Align 425MM carbon blades, main and feathering shafts.

The problem appeared to be caused by a dodgy Spektrum receiver which has now been replaced with a new one, we all stood with bated breath as David took to the air today wondering if this was the fix, low and behold a full 2500MAh battery was flown without a hitch.

Bet your glad you can finally fly it, hopefully Mr Johnston's sales of Trex 500 spares will now be down.

Who's a happy boy then?

It's been a long time coming but Gavin has finally got himself a 50 Size! no more shall we hear "**~#%@ helicopter is gutless and has no power"! Neil's original Trex 600 has been converted back from a 90 to a 50 and is Gavin's new pride an Joy.

Initial setup was time consuming due to the fact A: we all decided it was good learning for him to fit the servos :-D and B: because Neil forgot to put the bolts in the clutch (whoops).

First flight on Saturday, Gavin's first comments were "**~# me it makes my old raptor feel like a lama" we are all expecting inverted, 3d & chaos soon.

Sorry I know we are a helicopter club

After 8 months of sitting in the garage, Neil finally got round to finishing the Katana, bought off ebay for £50, Neil never bothered doing anything with it once he found out how much the recommended motor and esc cost "How Much! I'm not spending that much on a plank" after much searching a cheap power setup was found.

The Katana took to the air for its maiden flight on Saturday (don't worry David it's silent :-D).

Flies like a dream, so light and is very predictable, Neil even managed to properly land it on the patch which is a first!

Martin's taken off the training undercarriage

New member Martin cut the zip ties on the training under carriage, after 1/2 a gallon of fuel the ties were cut and the Raptor flew unrestrained.

Unfortunately the elation was short lived as the OS37's rear bearing gave out and the engine wouldn't run, a replacement is on order but the post was not on his side and it didn't arrive for the weekend's session (it's not as much fun watching).

Well done anyway Martin, finger crossed it'll arrive this week and you'll be back in the air next weekend, you have to admit it does fly so much nicer with out 4 long poles with balls on the end strapped to the bottom?

Neil F's Raptor gets a facelift

Jealous of Steve's custom painted Knight canopy Neil decided it was time to update the old fluorescent canopy on his Raptor 50, it looks really nice apart from the fact it says "Redline" on the side.

The only other downside is that it has 2 bolt fixings at the front which are really really annoying when you want to change you battery.

Not content with just the canopy Neil had to change the tail fins to NHP carbon set to finish the look off, if anyone wants an old florescent canopy and fins let him know :-)
